The Notebook - Main Theme

Published on 15 Sep 2022 / in Classical
This lovely piano solo was written by Aaron Zigman, and is the main theme from the 2004 romantic drama The Notebook, which is considered by many to be one of the most romantic movies ever made. I've actually never seen it, but I had to learn this beautiful piece for my best friend's wedding. To me, the beauty of this piece is in its haunting simplicity and the way the melody evokes a time and place that is both bittersweet and nostalgic. I feel like I could have played it with slightly more rubato, and let the chords "linger" a little bit longer, as my old piano professor would say. Unfortunately, I tend to lose my focus on the music whenever the camera is rolling, so my expression suffers a bit.
